"Youth at Risk" is a new program
intended to help the youth
in your local (or international) communities
who need extra help. They may be kids who don't
have the advantages most of us enjoy or they
may be kids who just need more help than they
are currently getting. The definition can be
very broad. Neal Dewing is
the program chair this year and will be
glad to assist your Clubs in getting going.
Your Club can start up a program unique to your
area...
Your Club may wish to partner with organizations
that are already working or have programs and
have regular contact with the youth in your
communities such as;
CASA (Court Appointed Special
Advocate) Judge Becky Dugan may be available
to speak at your Club as a program.
Local Schools
Big Brothers/Big Sisters
Boy's & Girl's Clubs
YMCAs
Other possibilities include libraries,
Al-Anon, Morningstar Program, and Planned Parenthood/Parenting
skills. We will be getting suggestions
from many of you as time goes on and we will
keep the website updated.
Neal would be more than glad to come
speak or get a speaker to your Club for a program
or information purposes.
Thanks and have a successful Rotary year,
Neal Dewing
