Many Rotary leaders
regard club Service, Rotary’s first Avenue
of Service, as the most important part of the
club mechanism, because without a vitally functioning
club, little else can be performed via the other
Avenues of Service. A significant distinction
between Club Service and other Avenues is that
Club Service is directed towards the internal
functioning of the club - to maintain its health
and vigor - while the other Avenues are directed
outward toward the local community and the larger
world.
The purpose of Club Service is to foster the
successful administration of a Rotary club.
The following committees may fall under Club
Service:
• The Attendance Committee is charged
with promoting good attendance.
• The Classifications Committee maintains
an up-to-date roster of filled and unfilled
classifications.
• The Club Bulletin Committee help evaluate,
plan, and improve the club bulletin - the most-read
publication in all of Rotary
• The Fellowship Activities Committee
plans special events, social and recreational
activities, makes seating arrangements, and
recognizes unusual service by individual members.
• The Historian committee establish past
years history of Club, maintain current years
events, photos, and news clippings.
• The Internet Site committee maintains
and update Club’s
Internet site.
• The Magazine Committee creates interest
in The Rotarian (or one of Rotary’s 28
regional magazines) and promotes gift subscriptions,
especially during Magazine Month (April).
• The Membership Committee seeks out new
members for the roster’s
unfilled classifications and proposes programs
for achieving membership growth and judges the
personal qualifications of proposed members.
• The Public Relations Committee informs
the community about Rotary.
• The Program Committee prepares and arranges
balanced programs for club meetings.
• The Rotary Information Committee “educates”
club members and prospective members about Rotary.
• The Rotary Items Committee once a month
set-up display of Rotary items available for
sale to members and takes special orders.
• The Sergeant-At-Arms sets-up the meeting
room, assigns new
members to give out badges and 50/50 tickets,
and collects fines.
